FORNEY RM-DR6101E 38805601 control board
The Forney RM-DR-6101E amplifier printed circuit Board is a self-contained intelligent controller mounted on Forney's Q Line rack. Although the rack is a standard part of the Forney ECS system, the RM-DR-6101E amplifier circuit is not actually part of the system, but functions as a wall-mounted DR-6101E controller. Because the power supply of the RM-DR-6101E circuit board is taken from the standard power supply of the cabinet, the RM-DR-6101E amplifier is more economical than the wall mounted amplifier in the use of power supply on the unit requiring a large number of fire detection systems.
The RM-DR-6101E printed circuit board circuit is composed of microprocessor, memory, analog circuit, serial communication port, signal processing circuit and power control circuit. The +6.5vdc and ±15vdc power inputs for the amplifier line are taken from the cabinet redundant power supply. The power input to the digital and analog lines is also controlled by components on the circuit board that support the operation of all functions of the amplifier circuit board as well as the operation of external probes. Because the fire detector needs to be blocked during some specific stages of the system operation, a power switching relay is installed in the amplifier line to control the power supply of the fire detector probe.
The RM-DR-6101E amplifier line can support two different modes of operation (MUX and DIRECT) depending on the three different stub positions. When the short wire is connected in MUX mode, the amplifier can be paired with a single DR-6 fire detector to perform UV or IDD mode. If the short circuit is connected in the DIRECT mode of operation of the amplifier, the RM-DR-6101E amplifier can be used with any of the following fire detectors:
* One or two IDD-II probes
* One or two UV-4 probes
* One IDD-II probe and one UV-4 probe
* Single DR-6.1 probe
When operating in DIRECT mode, the amplifier can process input signals from both IDD and UV.
The IDD sensor in the fire detector generates analog signals whose intensity and frequency vary with the intensity of light. The UV sensor produces a digital pulse signal whose frequency varies with the intensity of the light, so the amplifier provides different signal processing lines for the two inputs. For UV inputs, signal processing simply isolates low noise and sends the signal to a digital counter; For IDD signal processing, the input signal is amplified, a smoothed DC voltage signal is generated, and the signal is converted into a digital pulse output, which is used as an independent counter input. The microprocessor reads the values of these pulse counters at regular intervals and compares these values with the adjustment parameters in the memory. When the counter reading is greater than the corresponding value in the memory, the microprocessor sets a flag to indicate the presence of a flame. The value also directly reflects the intensity of ultraviolet and infrared light perceived by each sensor. The amplifier also uses these two meter values to produce a separate analog output signal to drive the flame intensity display meter.
The front end of the RM-DR-6101E printed circuit is provided with a serial communication port, which enables direct communication between the microprocessor on the circuit board and the handheld programmer. Forney has developed a programmer package to support the diagnosis and regulation of fire detection systems. If the circuit on the board detects an internal fault, it generates the corresponding error message, which can be downloaded to the programmer for display. When no error messages are present, the flame detection software retains two complete sets of adjustment parameters in addition to a set of default Settings provided by FORNEY. After the fire detection system is installed, the user can connect the programmer to the RM-DR-6101E amplifier and modify the adjustment parameters to achieve the best system performance. User-supplied tuning parameters are stored in permanent RAM and remain unchanged until new parameters are rewritten.
