DP-VME-5114 is a VME-Based PMC Carrier Module. This 6U VME board PMC carrier can accommodate two
PMCs. This board can be used for data acquisition, automated testing and checkout systems.
PMC (PCI Mezzanine cards) cards provides modular and cost effective solution for engineering various
applications in process control, medical electronics, aerospace, defence and telecom sector. The VME Carrier
is a 6U VME board, which can accommodate 2 PMC’s.
The PMC Carrier is a PCI to PCI bridge that takes the primary PCI bus from the P0 connector and bridges it to
an on-board secondary PCI bus. On the secondary PCI bus there are two PMC sites. The PMC carrier card
receives unique primary IDSEL, clock, and PCI request and grant line signals from the P0 PCI backplane. The
backplane must also provide rotation for the interrupt request lines, which are transfered down to the primary
PCI bus (P0).
The PMC carrier board offers fully compatible system expansion, providing both front and rear PMC I/O. The
high density rear I/O is achieved using 5 row VME64 connectors, ( the I/O actually being on P2). The front I/O
can be achieved by using 25-pin D-sub connector for 18 front I/Os.
The Carrier board supports installation of 2 PMC cards into a standard VME slot. The carrier board offers two
PMC carrier slots on a 6U VME module suitable for 32/ 64 bit, 33/ 66 MHz bus operation. The PMC front panel
connectors brought out via VME mounting bracket. The I/O connections of PMC cards are brought out to VME
connector and front panel D-Sub connector for access.
PCI-PCI bridge provides a high performance connection path between two peripheral components
interconnect (PCI) buses operating at a maximum bus frequency of 33MHz or 66MHz.
The PCI 6466 provides internal arbitration and is capable of interfaced to four PCI devices on the secondary
side.
