TDC‑3000 is a classic Distributed Control System (DCS) developed by Honeywell, launched in the 1980‑1990s. It is an end‑of‑life system for maintenance‑only service. Honeywell has discontinued production of new hardware, and its successor product lines are TPS and Experion PKS DCS. This document is based on the Enhanced Micro TDC3000 User Manual (MT11‑520, Revision R500) published in 1995. Enhanced Micro TDC3000 is a compact variant of the TDC‑3000X family, condensing full‑scale TDC‑3000 functions into two equipment towers.
‑ Architecture: LCN (Local Control Network, supervisory layer) + UCN (Universal Control Network, field control layer). LCN is a token‑passing coaxial‑cable bus; UCN is dual‑redundant control bus running at 5 Mbps. ‑ LCN hosts human‑machine stations, history modules, application modules and various gateways. UCN connects field controllers such as APM / HPM / PM, together with I/O cards and ST3000 smart transmitters. ‑ Programming language: CL (Control Language) for loop control, sequential logic and custom algorithms. Supports graphic display editor, report generation, trend archive, alarm management and batch control compliant with S88 standard.
‑ Market positioning: Compact small‑scale variant within TDC‑3000X family, maximum 8 LCN nodes, housed inside 2 equipment towers (Tower #1, Tower #2). Instead of coaxial LCN, it adopts TPLCN (Twisted‑Pair Local Control Network, RS‑485 token‑passing bus at 5 Mbps) for short‑range inter‑tower communication. An optional upgrade kit allows migration to standard coaxial‑cable LCN for integration into full‑size TDC‑3000 systems. ‑ All nodes are equipped with K2LCN processors. Base configuration ships with one Universal Station (US). The legacy Version‑B with dual‑US is no longer a base unit; dual‑US is available as an optional upgrade. UXS and AXM nodes are NOT supported. ‑ Hardware container: Multinode Module chassis; each chassis accommodates up to 4 LCN nodes. ‑ Peripherals: CRT color monitor, operator keyboard, engineer keyboard, trackball / touchscreen, Bernoulli cartridge disk drives, ASPI‑41 printer.
